Road Safety Week

WALT: write within the persuasive writing structure.

Kea Patrol
I strongly believe that Kea patrol should remain in the afternoons. I think this
because Kea patrol helps people cross a State Highway which is extremely busy,
Kea patrol keeps everyone safe when crossing the chaotic main road and stops
accidents from happening.

Firstly, No one could disagree that kea patrol helps people cross a State Highway
safely.  I think this because kea patrol lets everyone cross at the same time so
traffic doesn’t have to keep stopping. Kea patrol also makes sure everyone crosses
the main road at the same time. Everyone would agree that  having primary school
age children cross anywhere and pop out from between cars is unsafe. Many schools
are on main roads so it is important that kids cross the road safely. Many cars,
motorbikes, gigantic trucks and camper vans come flying past our school. This is
dangerous! Students are still learning about road safety so they have to be
extremely careful. When we are on Kea patrol it is a good chance for the older
kids to be responsible role models for the juniors

Secondly, Surely you would agree that kea patrol keeps everyone safe when crossing
the threatening State Highway. Kea patrol keeps everyone safe by stopping the
traffic completely with the signs so that everyone can cross safely even if they
are excited or not paying any attention. Children  are excited to leave school and
go to sports events or after school activities with their friends. Even if someone
trips over at kea patrol they can get back up without getting run over. Without kea
patrol kids could run across the treacherous road and be hit by cars who are
pulling out from the side of the road and turning from Rata street. People also
have to watch for cars doing U-turns and cars pulling out from outside of the shop.
We also have to watch that cars are parked on either side of the road to pick up
their tired children.

Finally, Everyone would agree that kea patrol stops accidents from happening.
Kea patrol stops accidents from happening by stopping the traffic and makes
sure everyone crosses the treacherous road at the same time. The signs we use
for kea patrol are big and bright so you can see them if the sky is dark.
For example, if there wasn’t kea patrol and it is raining and it is harder to
see the road be because the sky is dark. If a child tries to cross a road and
the driver doesn’t them this could cause and accident. Last week an accident
happened outside of our school because the weather was raining and hard to see.
There was no kea patrol and a kid ran across the dangerous road then a car
stopped and the next car rammed into it. Having kea patrol in place would have
prevented this accident.

In conclusion I strongly believe that schools should keep kea patrol in the
afternoon. We should do this because kea patrol helps people cross the
treacherous main road, kea patrol keeps everyone safe when crossing a State
Highway and kea patrol stops accidents from happening.
